Installing a storm shelter under a bed costs approximately $2,100 to $4,500. You'll pay more for options with a staircase or one that'll hold more than eight people. Storm shelter prices under the garage floor range from $10,000 to $15,000. You can install an in-ground garage shelter if you pay to excavate beneath the garage. These tend to be smaller than other aboveground shelters because you're working with limited square footage. A storm shelter on a garage floor costs around $3,000 to $9,000. Garage storm shelters can be aboveground or in-ground. If your in-ground shelter floods, you may need to budget for water damage restoration costs and the cost of removing standing water. However, in-ground units are prone to flooding, meaning you’ll need to budget for land excavation costs, which are about $1,500 to $5,600. Opting for an in-ground unit also means you won’t take up any square footage within your home. In-ground units are more effective against extreme weather, as they’re more resistant to falling debris and strong winds. Underground storm shelter prices run between $4,200 and $30,000, with many homeowners installing in-ground shelters below their garage or in their yards. If you don't want to alter your landscaping, aboveground hurricane or tornado shelters may make more sense. In addition, they're more easily accessible for people with mobility challenges, less likely to have bugs, and ideal for properties with a high water table (locations that flood more easily). Though a basement is located underground, "aboveground" refers to the installation above a concrete surface.Īdvantages of an aboveground storm shelter are the lower cost and easier installation. Typically, an aboveground shelter costs between $2,600 and $15,000, with most aboveground shelters going in a garage or basement. Live performances The song "Pinball Wizard" was written and recorded almost immediately. Knowing Cohn was an avid pinball fan, Townshend suggested that Tommy would play pinball, and Cohn immediately declared Tommy to be a masterpiece. Following this, Townshend, as Tommy 's principal composer, discussed the album with Cohn and concluded that, to lighten the load of the rock opera's heavy spiritual overtones (Townshend had recently become deeply interested in the teachings of Meher Baba), the title character, a "deaf, dumb, and blind" boy, should also be particularly good at a certain game. In late 1968 or early 1969, when the Who played a rough assembly of their new album to critic Nik Cohn, Cohn gave a lukewarm reaction to it. It was a perpetual concert favourite for Who fans due to its pop sound and familiarity. Nevertheless, the song was a commercial success and remains one of the most recognised tunes from the opera. Townshend once called it "the most clumsy piece of writing ever done". The lyrics are written from the perspective of a pinball champion, called "Local Lad" in the Tommy libretto book, astounded by the skills of the opera's eponymous main character, Tommy Walker: "He ain't got no distractions / Can't hear those buzzers and bells / Don't see lights a flashin' / Plays by sense of smell / Always gets a replay / Never seen him fall / That deaf dumb and blind kid / Sure plays a mean pinball.", and "I thought I was the Bally table king, but I just handed my pinball crown to him". Despite the title, it has no musical connection to the Who's 1968 UK single " Dogs". The B-side of the "Pinball Wizard" single is an instrumental credited to Keith Moon, titled "Dogs Part Two". The original recording was released as a single in 1969 and reached No. " Pinball Wizard" is a song written by Pete Townshend and performed by the English rock band the Who, featured on their 1969 rock opera album Tommy. ![]() ![]() ![]() What Is Screen Recording Software Used For? ![]() ![]() In the spirit of the holidays, an amped-up, near capacity crowd gathered inside the venue to give thanks for the precious gift of Heavy Metal. An annual consumer tradition, thankfully for New York City Metal disciples, on Friday, November 24, 2017, it was more about hitting the mosh pit as the Children of Bodom’s 20 Years Down and Dirty Tour slammed into the Playstation Theater off W44th St. Definitely a show to go see.For many, the Friday after Thanksgiving signifies Black Friday – a day meant for shopping and hitting the mall. The best part of all was the massive amount of energy that radiated from each of the bands. The different genres that each band consisted of made it a wide range of style and taste for everyone to enjoy. Over all the “20 Years down & dirty tour’ was phenomenal. The fans went crazy for several of the tracks but the best ones of the night were “Needled 24/7, Lake of Bodom, Every time I die & Towards Dead End.” I have lost count how many times I have seen COB live now but every time they never disappoint. From all the keyboard & beer drinking from Janne & guitar solos from Alexi that looked so effortlessly played the crowd went wild. After all these years their performance is still consistent and always enjoyable to see. As always the guys were killer and their set list included lots of old material that the fans were really happy about. Last but not least it was time for Children of Bodom to play. Their set list was short but sweet including “The Carriage Wheel Murder, When Crows Tick on Windows, Pitch Black Box” & a few more. During each of his songs he would change his appearance by wearing a mask, a crown and really commit to his stage persona. From his boots, his jacket and his pants the ring leader of the band is quite the showman. Seregor was dressed in vinyl from head to toe. The stand was covered in a black sheet with a scary mask that was a pretty cool prop to their set. Something that caught my eye was Ardek’s keyboard stand that rose up and down during the set. The band is incredibly unique with their horror black theme metal music style they have going on which really makes for a great stage show. I have seen the guys play smaller venues several times but this was the first time they have played a larger vicinity. It was now Carach Angren‘s turn to hit the stage and you could see all the their fans out in the crowd inching their way closer to the front. Its safe to say they blew everyone’s expectations with their performance and we can only hope they come back soon. They played several songs from all 3 of their albums which made it a kick ass set list. The guys are rather a newer band but they are very talented & great at what they do. Their thrash attitude & energy really created an incredible atmosphere in the room. The guys ran around head banging really rallying up the crowd while Ossi kept the beat in the back. Samy, Arttu & Mirko did not stay still on the stage at all. The guys were pumped and ready to show the crowd what they were made of. The adrenaline, excitement & intense energy of the band was unreal. You could feel the energy crank up as soon as the guys hit the stage. I as well as many fans at the show were very excited to see the guys in action for the first time. Hailing all the way from Finland for their first USA tour ever we had up next Lost Society. The guys did an awesome job getting the crowd hyped for what was to be an amazing night of metal. With heavy rifts and vocals they were definitely a sight to see. As soon as they hit the stage the guy started off strong and captivated the crowds attention. Considering I have never seen them before I was pleasantly surprised by the boys. It was a great turn out for the 3rd show of this tour. COB is currently celebrating the 20th year anniversary of their first album ‘Something Wild.’ All the bands were incredibly different and brought a wide range of fans from all kind of styles. The diverse line up consisted of Uncured, Lost Society, Carach Angren & Children of Bodom. This was an incredibly special tour for many reasons. The “20 Years down & dirty” tour hit Tempe Arizona at the Marquee Theater on Friday November 3rd. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and warn you of any potential hardware issues.AA (Audible Audio Book), AAC (Advanced Audio Coding), ALP (Ableton Live Pack), AMR (Adaptive Multi-Rate audio codec), ASF (Advanced Audio Streaming Format), AU (Audacity audio files), AWB (Adaptive Multi-rate Wide Band), CAF (Core Audio File), CDA (CD Audio Track), CPR (Cubase Project), DS2 (Digital Speech Standard Pro), ENS (REAKTOR Ensemble), FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec), FLP (FruityLoops Project), IDF (MIDI instruments Definitions File), M4A (Apple Lossless Audio), MID (MIDI), MP2 (Audio file format used with MPEG Audio Stream recovered as MPA), MPA (Audio file compressed with MPEG Layer II compression), MPC (Musepack Compressed Audio File), MUS (Finale Notation), NGRR (Guitar Rig sound files), OGA (audio extracted from OGG recovered as OGG), OGG (Ogg Vorbis Compressed audio file), PTF (Pro Tools Session File), RA (Real Audio), RFL (Reason ReFill Sound Bank), RNS (Reason Song File), RPP (REAPER Project Files), RX2 (REX2 Audio Files), SIB (Sibelius Score), VOC (Creative Labs Voice), WAV (DTS-WAV), ZRV (Philips Voice Traver), SESX (Adobe Audition CC Session File)ĪAF (Advanced Authoring Format), ABCDDB (Apple Address Book Database), AFDESIGN (Affinity Designer document), APK (Android Package), BKF (Windows Backup Utility File), CS (Visual C# Source Code File), CST (Adobe Director External Cast File), CWK (ClarisWorks Document), DB3 (SQLite3 Database), DGN (MicroStation Design file), DWG (AutoCAD), EMF (Enhanced Windows Metafile), EMLX (Apple Mail Message), EPUB (Open Ebook file), FDR / FDX (Final Draft), FP7 (FileMaker Pro 7+ Database), GP3/GP4/GP5/GPS (Guitar Pro documents), H (C/C++ Header File), IBANK (iBank 5 app), iCash files. ![]() Disk Drill can also monitor your disk's health via S.M.A.R.T. They each have specific stylistic designs that lend themselves well to the various shooting needs you may have. The following list of bullets are defined by how they are used. These are typically limited to low-pressure loads, but are perfect for small game, and plinking. Because of this, the base of the cartridge is flat and smooth. These differ from the centerfire cartridges as they do not have the primer located in the base and simply puts the priming compound inside the sealed cartridge around the edges of the rim. However, they are not obsolete and are still widely used. Rimfire CartridgeĪ rimfire cartridge is not as popular as they once were, mainly because that have slowly been replaced by the more accurate, and easier to make centerfire option. Centerfire options are typically more expensive and are reserved for sighting in firearms and use for when you need to make the bullet count. These include a wide range of options, as well as your high-pressure loads for hunting and self-defense. You can visually recognize these as they set in the center of the base with a space between them and the cartridge rim. The ignition system of the cartridge holds the powder and primer, and is located in the center of the base. Centerfire CartridgeĪ centerfire cartridge is exactly how it sounds. The types of cartridges available can be the difference between a dependable, terminal round for hunting and self-defense, or an enjoyable day on the range without going broke due to the cost of ammunition. It is important to understand the identification of different kinds of pistol and rifle cartridges you can pick from as well. The projectile, or bullet, is what is expelled from the barrel to hit the object you are aiming at. The powder, or propellent, is what is ignited by the primer spark to help eject the projectile down the barrel of your firearm. In a rimfire round, it is located around the rim of the base. In a centerfire round, it is located in the center of the base of the case. The primer is what ignites the propellant within the cartridge. ![]() This is what you hold and see when you load your weapon. The case is what holds your cartridge all together. The cartridge is, in short, the entire pre-assembled firearm packaging we call a bullet. Parts of a Cartridgeįirst off, what we call a ‘bullet’ is pretty inaccurate overall. Unless you have complete knowledge of what other calibers your firearm can accept (for example, AR-style weapons may be able to accept various caliber options), you should never load an unknown bullet. Trying to feed a caliber that is not the same as your firearm can result in, at best, jamming or damage to your gun or at worst, could kill you. Very few guns can handle a caliber not designed for it, and in the few cases a person has tried, they have put themselves into a very dangerous situation. For example, if you own a 9mm handgun, you will purchase ONLY 9mm bullet cartridges to fire out of it.Ĭaliber is defined by the diameter of the barrel, and thus the diameter of the bullet you will be shooting through it. The choice of caliber is made when you choose your weapon, not when you choose your ammunition. Let me reiterate that: bullet size is determined by the weapon you already own. Rather, you are choosing the bullet you desire for the size caliber firearm you already own. Factors to Consider When Choosing Caliber Sizeįactors to Consider When Choosing Caliber Sizeīefore getting started, it is REALLY important to point out that when determining the type of ammunition you prefer, you are NOT choosing which bullet caliber to shoot. ![]() ![]() It's very hard for me to fairly rate this game without letting my nostalgia goggles get in the way, but I honestly think it's a very fun flash game with addicting (though not exactly deep) gameplay. So now, you hopefully appreciate why this is called vertex form.Once you have the quadratic formula and the basics of quadratic equations down cold, it's time for the next level of your relationship with parabolas: learning about their vertex form. Going to be equal to zero and y is going to be 7.1. And then if this is equal to zero, then this whole thing is Going to be the x value that makes this equal What is the vertex of the parabola here? Well, the x-coordinate is So let's say, I'm just gonna make this up, we have y is equal to negative pi times x minus 2.8 squared plus 7.1. Let's do one more example just so that we get really fluent at identifying the It intersects the x-axis but it's going to be aĭownward opening parabola. So it's five comma 10 and our curve is gonna ![]() Scales for the x and y-axis, but there you have it. ![]() This would be positive 27, 10 would be something like this. And so the vertex here is x equals five, and I'm just gonna eyeball it, maybe it's right over here, x equals five. And what's the y-coordinateįor the vertex? Well, if x is equal to fiveĪnd this thing is zero, you're not gonna be takingĪnything away from the 10 and so y is going to be equal to 10. Well, that of course is going to happen when x is equal to five, and that indeed is the So, where do we hit a maximum point? Well, we hit a maximum point when x minus five is equal to zero, when we're not takingĪnything away from the 10. So this whole thing right over here is going to be less than orĮqual to zero for all x's, so it could only take away from the 10. So here, this part is stillĪlways going to be non-negative but it's being multipliedīy a negative two, so it's actually always Well here, this is gonnaīe downward opening and let's appreciate why that is. X minus five squared, and then let's say plus 10. Just say negative two times x plus five, actually, let me make it x minus five. So let's say let's pick a scenario where we have a downward opening parabola, where y is equal to, let's Good at picking out the vertex when a quadratic is Now let's get a few moreĮxamples under our belt so that we can really get And you are able to pick that out just by looking at the And so the coordinates of the vertex here are negative two comma negative 27. Y is equal to negative 27, so this right over here is negative 27. What is the minimum y "that this curve takes on?" Well, when x is equal to negative two, this whole thing is zero and Y-coordinate of the vertex? You could just say, "Hey, Negative two, so we know that this x-coordinate right Subtract two from both sides and you get x is equal to X-coordinate of the vertex, well, for what x valueĭoes x plus two equal zero? And of course we can So you could just say, if you wanna find the And so, when will this equal zero? Well, it's going to be equal to zero when x plus two is going This curve right over here, for your parabola, is going to happen when this expression is equal to zero, when you're not addingĪnything to negative 27. So another way to think about it, it's only going to beĪdditive to negative 27. This whole thing right over here is going to be greater And so this is never going to be negative and we're multiplying it byĪ positive right over here. Here, if you square it, you're never going to The important thing to realize is that this part of the expression is never going to be negative. To appreciate the structure that's in this expression. How do we do that? Well, to do that, we just have To pick out the coordinates of this vertex from this form. Is called vertex form is it's fairly straightforward The vertex right over there and you have your y-coordinate of the vertex right over here. Parabola like this, the vertex is this point right over here. It might look something like this right over here. This one in particular is going to be an upward opening parabola, and so it might look something like this. If we're graphing y is equal to some quadraticĮxpression in terms of x, the graph of that will be a parabola, and it might be an upward opening parabola or a downward opening parabola. As you might remember from other videos, if we have a quadratic, One of these other forms to a vertex form in this video, we'll do that in future videos,īut what we're going to do is appreciate why this This is sometimes known as vertex form and we're not gonna focus on how do you get from And this last form is what we're going toįocus on in this video. Notice this has beenįactored right over here. This is the equation and sometimes called standardįorm for a quadratic. ![]() They've just beenĪlgebraically manipulated. This feature leads to the question of truth in religion, religious pluralism, and the phenomenon of “bricolage” (Lévi-Straus) or systemic construction in myth and religion. The semantics of religious concepts (God, angel, heaven, etc.) are deviant from everyday discourse as their reference (called tanscendent) is endangered by vagueness and ambiguity. The self-organization of elaborated religions (based on texts) is exemplified in the early history of Christianism. Some features of religious morphogenesis are modeled in the format of catastrophe theory. In the third step, major religions’ spatial and temporal characteristics are analyzed (concepts of past, future, apocalypse, and spatial itineraries). In the second step, the emergence of myth and religion and the morphogenesis of concrete religious structures in some world religions are described. In the first step, the domain of religion (including myth and pre- or post-religious symbolic forms) is delimitated. ![]() |
